Siam Paragon Gravity Well

Photo a Day: Siam Paragon Shopping Mall

The escalator shaft in Bangkok's Siam Paragon: Something out of M.C. Etcher.

This is one big-ass mother of a shopping mall in downtown Bangkok. I stopped in here the other day to catch a Thai movie, as might be getting a gig writing arts and entertainment for an expat website and joint print publication. It’s a startup, so I’m not holding my breath, but there is financial backing, so I’m keeping my fingers crossed.

Anyway, I was on my way back down to the mezzanine level — the cinema is on the fifth floor of Siam Paragon — when this rather M.C. Etcher-esque view of the escalator shaft caught my eye.

Incidentally, I actually liked this movie. It’s a Thai romantic comedy. I never thought I would utter these words, but it’s true. On the whole — the movie is not without flaws, to be sure — I liked it. And ask any of my friends. I generally f*&^%ing hate movies.
